1798 S-167 PCGS AU55 Holmes lot 306

Choice frosty brown and tan. There is the tinyest of planchet defects in the right obverse field. This piece comes with no less than nine pieces of paper tracing its first known appearance in the summer 1997 Stacks fixed price list. One of the ex Jack Wadlington coins that graced the Holmes collection. This coin was called XF45 in the Holmes sale but is now in a PCGS AU55 holder.
